Running Disk Defragmenter

Disk Defragmenter is a utility that is included with Windows. It is designed to reassemble and reorder the files stored on your hard drive to increase the speed and performance of your system. Running Disk Defragmenter once a month optimizes the way files are stored on your hard drive so your computer can more efficiently load programs and data.
- Our final application is the Windows Disk Defragmenter. This application helps maintain clean, consistent reads of your data off of your hard-drive, and also can add speed to one of the most speed critical things your computer does, read from the hard-drive. So let's double-click on the Disk Defragmenter, and get it rolling.
- If you only have one hard-drive (or one partition!) like most people, this should be as easy as selecting (C:) from the menu, and click on the Defragment button.
- When finished the defragmenter will prompt you to either "view report", or close when it is done. Signifying that you can also close this application.
